Award Recognizes Tribal Operators for Growth and Expansion

DURANT, Okla., (May 12, 2023) – Choctaw Casinos & Resorts was recognized as a leader in tribal gaming and received the “Silver Medal” recognition as the 2023 Tribal Gaming Operator of the Year at the annual SBC Awards North America event held in New York City on May 11. This award recognizes tribal gaming operators that have experienced significant expansion and growth.

The SBC Awards North America recognizes the achievements of gaming and online betting operators in the U.S. and Canada.

“This award recognizes our ability to grow and expand responsibly. It’s such an honor to be recognized along with some of the best in our industry,” says Heidi Grant, executive officer of gaming and hospitality for Choctaw Casinos & Resorts. “The past several years, we’ve experienced remarkable growth with the 21-story Sky Tower expansion on the Durant property. In addition, we are excited to open Choctaw Landing, a new entertainment destination in 2024.”

In 2021, Choctaw Casinos & Resorts invested $600 million to expand its Durant showcase property.  The 21-story Spa Tower, an exclusive non-smoking environment, offers guests 3,300 slots, 38 table games, and a poker room. In addition, AQUA is a three-acre pool oasis with one family-friendly pool and two waterslides and the other an exclusive adult-only pool.

In 2022, Choctaw Casinos & Resorts broke ground on Choctaw Landing, an entertainment and resort in Hochatown, Oklahoma. Scheduled to open in early 2024, Choctaw Landing is a 100-room resort with 600 slot machines, eight table games, and several restaurants and bars. The property will also have a 12,000-square-foot mercantile that will adjoin Choctaw Landing, offering a small grocery store and market, dining options, and a fuel station.

Additionally, Commerce Senior Executive Officer Janie Dillard was a finalist in the “Leader of the Year” category, and Choctaw Casinos & Resorts was selected as a finalist for the “Marketing and Sponsorship of the Year” award.

“Our associates are who make us a leader in our industry. They deliver award-winning service to our guests daily and make Choctaw Casinos & Resorts the go-to casino in Oklahoma,” says Grant.
