DURANT, Okla. (Jan. 27, 2020) – The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and Choctaw Casinos & Resorts presented a check totaling $160,000 on Thursday, Jan. 16 to Susan G. Komen Oklahoma to help educate, fight and detect breast cancer. In attendance was Abbi Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Susan G. Komen Oklahoma, Choctaw Nation and Choctaw Casino leadership, survivors and fighters.

“Choctaw Nation has made a huge difference with their generous donation,” states Abbi Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Susan G. Komen Oklahoma. “We’ve been able to provide over 1,000 mammograms in the southeastern Oklahoma service area and trained four patient navigators that have helped women with care; which we’ve seen a 15 percent increase of women staying in care and a decrease of 13 percent from the time a woman gets screened to the time she gets diagnosed.”

For six consecutive years, Choctaw Casinos & Resorts has raised money throughout the month of October by donating 100 percent of specialty cocktail sales, guest donations, t-shirt sales and a donation from the Choctaw Nation, totaling more than $560,000 to help fight for a cure.

“Each year, our resorts and the Choctaw Nation come together to make donations to support breast cancer research and help raise awareness to our guests and community,” states Heidi Grant, Executive Officer of Gaming Hospitality. “The entire Choctaw family is truly inspired by the immense support that Choctaw guests, associates and tribal members have demonstrated towards this worthy cause.”
