DURANT, Okla. (August 9, 2023)- If you want a weekend filled with live music, Gilley’s Durant has you covered all month long with exciting acts.
Every Friday and Saturday in August, head over to Gilley’s at Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant to listen to fun up-and-comers and dance the night away completely free of charge. Gilley’s DJ will get things kicked off at 7 p.m. before acts take the stage at 9:30 p.m.
Here’s a look at everyone coming to Gilley’s this month.
Friday, August 11
Time Machine is a cover band like no other, performing songs from a wide variety of genres thanks to the vocal and stylistic range of its members. With over 20 years in the music industry combined and over 1,200 potential songs to choose from, Time Machine is a versatile act you won’t want to miss.
Saturday, August 12
DEF LEGGEND is a Def Leppard tribute band based out of Dallas that aims to give audiences an authentic Def Leppard experience. Performing hits such as “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and “Photograph,” DEF LEGGEND’s set list is full of the very best of Def Leppard, including at least one song from every album.
Friday, August 18
Scotty Alexander is a seven-time Texas Country Music nominee from Wimberly, Texas, with a long career in the music industry. Alexander has worked with Neal McCoy, Cody Johnson, Wade Bowen and Easton Corbin, as well as many other artists over the years. In 2019, Alexander released his first solo album, “Guilty,” followed by “Road We’re On,” in 2021. He landed top 10 singles on Texas Country Radio with “Cowboy’s Daughter,” “One More Reason” and “Nothing Good Happens After Midnight.” Most recently, Alexander released an album of all-acoustic covers titled “Herb’s Hat Shop.”
Saturday, August 19
The Wilder Blue, a band that came together in 2019, is anchored by its storytelling and strong vocal harmonies. The group of five is based out of Texas, and their varying musical influences have shaped their self-titled album, which they recorded in Denton. From James Taylor to The Eagles and the Beatles, The Wilder Blue’s taste is reflected in an album that pulls from the past to create something new.
Friday, August 25
Casey Chesnutt, the son of country musician Mark Chesnutt, is a Texas-based artist who began his career at 15 years old. He took a five-year hiatus from music after joining the Marines, but quickly returned to chasing his dream once discharged. Chesnutt has released two EPs, 2019’s “Lost Highway Songs” and 2021’s “Down Mexico Way.” His single “Even Texas Couldn’t Hold Her” broke into the Texas charts’ top 100 in 2022, and he continues to release singles in 2023, with “Taste of Beer” coming out earlier this year.
Saturday, August 26
Big Joe Walker is an artist based out of Dallas who’s known for his larger-than-life stage presence and vocal abilities. Walker’s debut single, “Friday Nights in Texas,” spent nine weeks on Texas country charts, and he released his first full-length album, “True Story,” in 2017.
