Ryan Bingham, an American singer-songwriter and actor, known for his blend of country, rock, and folk music. He grew up in a family that moved frequently across the Southwestern United States due to his father’s work in the oil fields. He began riding with a rodeo team in college and would play his guitar and sing with his rodeo buddies. While it began as a hobby, he slowly found success playing local gigs at bars and parks. His debut album, “Mescalito,” released in 2007, received critical acclaim for its raw and honest depiction of the American West. Bingham’s fame skyrocketed with the song “The Weary Kind,” the theme for “Crazy Heart” (2009), a film that was his acting debut. The theme song earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Song. He continued to release successful albums, including “Junky Star” (2010) and “Tomorrowland” (2012), showcasing his storytelling abilities and distinctive raspy voice. He also continued to have success as an actor, starring in an independent film “A Country Called Home” (2014). Starting in 2018, Bingham was added to the cast of “Yellowstone” (Paramount Network, 2018- ). He released the album “American Love Song” in 2019, featuring a song “Wolves”, inspired in part by the courage of the students in the March For Our Lives protests. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ryan Bingham released various songs and covers on his YouTube channel, calling it The Cantina Sessions.
